1. The Vietnam visa length of stay: Vietnam visa validity

A Vietnam visa is typically valid for 30- 90 days (depending on the client’s request). It becomes active as soon as it is approved. Visitors have the option to extend their visa upon arrival in Vietnam.

Vietnam, located in Southeast Asia, is known for its dense population and its historical legacy, including its past conflict with the US. However, the country offers much more than its wartime history. It boasts lush landscapes and a vibrant culture that rivals any in Asia.

Recently, the number of tourists visiting Vietnam has been on the rise, driven by the government’s efforts to diversify the economy and enhance the tourism sector. These efforts include the introduction and improvement of special tourist and business visas for foreign travelers.

New immigration regulations have streamlined the application process, making it easier for applicants to obtain a visa on short notice.

2. How long does Vietnam tourist visa valid for?

A Vietnam visa is typically valid for either two weeks or a month, depending on the type of visa you apply for. You can choose between a 15-day or 30-day visa, with the option to extend it once you arrive in Vietnam.

There are two methods to obtain a Vietnam visa:

– E-visa

– Visa on Arrival (VOA).

2.1.Online Application Method

The online application is the most convenient route. Simply complete the application form electronically using a smartphone or computer connected to the internet. This process can be completed from the comfort of your home or office in under 30 minutes, eliminating the need to visit a Vietnam embassy.

2.2.Visa on Arrival

The visa on arrival method is available for travelers from eligible countries arriving at Ho Chi Minh City airport without a pre-arranged visa. Upon arrival, you will be given a visa application form to complete and submit at the airport’s arrival lounge. While approval is usually quick, it may be delayed on busy days due to long queues.

Among the two methods, the online route is generally faster and more convenient, making it the preferred choice for those who wish to avoid potential delays at the airport.

2.3.Tourist Visa Exemptions

Certain countries are exempt from needing a tourist visa to enter Vietnam. Citizens of these countries can stay in Vietnam for varying durations, ranging from 14 to 90 days, depending on their nationality. After their allowed stay, they must apply for a visa if they wish to remain longer or re-enter Vietnam. They must also wait 30 days before re-entering if they leave.

Standard visas for Vietnam are issued by the Embassy.

2.4. Vietnam Visa Requirements

To apply for a Vietnam visa, you will need:

  • Full Name: As it appears on your passport.
  • Nationality: Including your date of birth.
  • Passport Details: Passport number, issue date, and expiration date.

Required Documents:

  • Valid Passport: Must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival.
